Export your Google Maps saved lists with Google Takeout, open them in Excel, and add back what a trip plan needs, such as addresses.
Your list in Google Maps
- Café Lume · Breakfast
- Tasca Rio · Reserve
- Miradouro · Sunset
In your spreadsheet
To export Google Maps list data, you use Google Takeout, Google's own tool for downloading your data: the lists you save in Maps come out as files you can open in Excel or Google Sheets. This guide walks through the export, opens the files, and turns a list into a sheet you can plan a trip with, adding back the details, such as addresses, that you'll want beside each place.

The steps from Google Maps' help for your saved lists:
- Go to takeout.google.com and sign in with the account that has your lists.
- Under Create a new export, make sure Saved is checked. Google selects every product you use, so uncheck the ones you don't need to keep the download small.
- Click Next step.
- Choose where the export goes (a download link by email, or a cloud drive), how often (once is enough), and the file type (.zip opens anywhere).
- Click Create export.
Per Google's help, an export takes from a few minutes to a few days depending on how much it holds, and most people get the link the same day. The archive expires in about 7 days and can be downloaded 5 times, so download it when the email arrives.

Unzip the download and look for your list by its name, starting with the files from Saved. Open it in Excel, or in Google Sheets with File › Import. Before you build on it, check three things:
- Every place is there. Count the rows against the number of places Google Maps shows for the list. If the file has fewer, the missing ones are easiest to add by hand.
- What each row has. Look at the headings. If a row has a place's name, your note and a link but no address, the link is what ties it back to the place, and the next section adds the address.
- Names with odd characters. If accented letters come out garbled in Excel, import the file instead with Data › From Text/CSV and choose 65001: Unicode (UTF-8) as the file origin.
- 1Add an Address columnAnd Hours or Day, if the plan needs them
- 2Click the place’s linkIt opens the place in Google Maps
- 3Copy the addressPaste it into the row as plain text
- 4Work down the listThen sort by your Day column
If your list file links to each place rather than describing it, add the details you need yourself. For a list of twenty or thirty places, it's a short job:
- Add the columns you want: Address, and anything else for the plan, such as Hours or Day.
- Click a place's link. It opens the place in Google Maps.
- Copy the address from the place, and paste it into the row, as plain text.
- Work down the list. Sort by your Day column at the end, and the trip is in order.
Keep the sheet as XLSX while you add to it, so your columns and formats survive; save a CSV copy only if another app needs one. Our guide covers CSV or XLSX? in more detail.
Google Maps keeps the places you save in lists under Saved, and Saved is the Takeout product its help names for exporting them, so the export above covers every list you made. Starred places can't be shared, per Google's help, so the export is also the way to get those into a sheet if they're in your download. If a list you expected is missing, check you exported from the account that holds it.
A list someone shared with you is theirs. If you follow it, its places show up in your Saved, but Google's help doesn't say whether Takeout includes a list you follow. If yours isn't in the export, open the list in Google Maps and copy what you see into a sheet by hand. Our guide to exporting a list from any site shows how to copy and paste it properly. Or ask the person who made it to export it from their account and send you the file.
Tabless is a browser extension that builds what you ask for from the sites you allow; nothing is typed or submitted without your OK. It isn't open yet. An export like this is one of the jobs we're building it for: asking in plain words for "the places on my list, with each one's address and my note", and getting it as a CSV or XLSX file.
It's designed to read through the session your browser already has, the sites you're signed in to, for your own use, so there are no API keys or passwords to hand over, and to ask before it reads each site. It's for lists you're entitled to see, for your own work, and the site's own rules still apply. You sign in to Tabless with a Wix account.
If your exported list has names and links but no addresses, the link is how the file points to each place. Open each link and copy the address into a column of your own, as described above.
In the list of products on takeout.google.com, under the name Saved. Google Maps' help names it as the one to check for your saved lists.
The export isn't in the Google Maps app: it's Google Takeout, a web page at takeout.google.com, and Google's help gives the steps for a computer. A computer is also where you'll want to open and edit the spreadsheet.
Not yet. Tabless isn't open, and exports like this one are among the jobs we're building it for. Join the waitlist, and we'll let you know when you can try Tabless.
